At the age 65 years, Yayasan Pendidikan dan Pengajaran Indonesia (YPPI) has established itself and demonstrated its existence. Learners’ characters development has been YPPI’s main focus.
That was delivered by the Chairman of YPPI, Drs. Kresnayana Yahya, M.Sc., while giving a speech at the commemoration of the 65th anniversary of YPPI at Empire Palace Surabaya, Saturday, September 1, 2012. “It’s an important academic value. But YPPI won’t always be dwelled on the numbers. Character development becomes the main focus. Thus, YPPI will produce individuals with good personal qualities,” he said.
According to him, that spirit was in line with the YPPI’s dream forward, namely realizing School for life. That is, the school must be a place to learn about life. Thus, educational institutions can produce leaders with good integrity and personality. “Our numbers are indeed small but these small numbers would be a major force, “he said.
The commemoration of 65th YPPI anniversary was delivered lively. It was also attended by number of important officials, such as the Surabaya Head of Education (Dispendik). Dr. Ikhsan, S. Psi, MM., And consulate representatives of friendly countries in City of Heroes (Kota Pahlawan). During the event, a colossal dance performance was also presented. The story of YPPI’s journey from the beginning until it can stand up now.
Dozens of students who were studying under YPPI contributed in this event, including Widya Kartika University’s (Uwika). They played their roles enthusiastically, starting from farmers, builders, dancers, until fighters. As a result, the audience applause burst accompanied the performance.
The activity which was entitled with ‘Crossing The Border Line’ was also filled with playing angklung lively. Thousands of invited guests were presented with sounds of bamboo musical instrument simultaneously. When the conductor gave the cue, the sound of the angklung was blaring. “Indonesia has a variety of traditional art. We are obliged to always preserve it, “he continued.
Meanwhile, Dr Kadispendik Surabaya. Ikhsan, S.Psi., MM., confessed an admiration for the struggle of YPPI. According to him, by attending the commemoration, he could learn something. “The 65-year struggle can be seen today, starting from the time of trouble, until the era of globalization. YPPI is able to show the existence and adjustment. It is incredible, “he explained.
He hoped, everything which has been done by YPPI can inspire other schools or foundations. Thus, if all the components of education in the City of Heroes (Kota Pahlawan) can walk together in harmony, then the Surabaya’s dream to be an education barometer in Indonesia will not be an impossible one. “It’s a dream of we all. Hopefully it can happen, “he concluded.
