“Give me 10 youngsters, then I’ll shake the world.”, a short part of Republic of Indonesia’s proclamator’s speech, Sukarno, was said by Rector of the Widya Kartika University (Uwika) Surabaya, Dr. Ir. Gembong Baskoro, M.Sc. That part of speech said during the delivery of the Decree (SK) given to the three new Heads of Departments (Kaprodi) from Faculty of Engineering, Monday, July 30, 2012. On that occasion, Uwika also appointed the chairman and vice chairman of the Institute for Training and Consultancy (LPK).
The term from the first president of Indonesia was not an exaggeration. Remember, the four persons appointed to fill the positions were still young. “If the leaders are still young, usually, they will have doubled strength,” he said.
Officials who will fill positions are Ririn Dina Kaprodi Mutfianti, ST, MT as Architects’ Head of Department, Diana Suteja, SEAk, MM in Computerized Accounting, and Arief Budijanto, ST, MT, in Electrical. While Ary Dwi Djatmiko, ST, MT, Uwika’s lecturer which is still actively teaching in the Architect Department, is trusted to hold the position of LPK chairman. Ary’s task will be assisted by Budijanto Arief, ST, MT, as vice chairman.
LPK existence is considered very important. The agency is a realization from the existing campus in Jalan Sutorejo Prima Utara II / 1 Surabaya in the field of non-formal education. “We do not know what the future will be. But, with the potential of its leaders, hope LPK can fulfill the needs of the community,” he said.
He assumed that at this time, LPK can be considered as a newborn baby. Thus, it is expected that the entire academic community in Uwika can support and nurture this institution together. To be able to grow and develop to show its existence.
The SK submission atmosphere yesterday was full of togetherness. Rector, Dr. Ir. Gembong Baskoro, M.Sc, was accompanied by Vice Rector II for Non-Academic Affair, Dra. Felicia O. Dien Koeswanto. In addition, there were also teachers from each study program.
Familiarity much less reflected when the representative from SK recipients was asked to deliver a speech. “The persons who were given time to have speech were only two,” said Ririn Mutfianti Dina, ST, MT. Suddenly, all eyes went to Areif Budijanto, ST, MT.
Arief said the two positions he had received would be considered as a mandate. So, he hoped that all of his colleagues and boss would always be helpful in carrying out the mandate. “please correct me if i’m wrong,” he said.
